BUDDHA PURNIMA "VESAK"

“बुद्धं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं बुद्ध की शरण लेता हूं धम्मं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं धर्म की शरण लेता हूं संघं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं संघ की शरण लेता हूं” B uddha Purnima – “Vesak”, the Day of the Full Moon in the month of Vishaka, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. It was also on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha attained enlightenment, and it was on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha in his eightieth year passed away. Even though many Buddhists observe Buddha’s historical birth on April 30th, the exact date remains in question. Although modern archaeological and historical research confirms that Prince Siddartha Gotama lived around this time A JOURNEY FROM “SIDDHARTHA GAUTAM” TO “LORD BUDDHA”   A scientific quote says “Curiosity is the mother of Invention”.

Let me start with a small Jataka tales Once there was a poor farmer who offered his only bowl of rice to a holy man who was even poorer than he. This meant he would have nothing to eat that day. He went back to his work and forgot all about having given his rice away. Suddenly a rabbit hopped alongside the farmer and jumped on his back. The surprised farmer tried to brush it off. He tried to shake it off, he tried to knock it off, but the rabbit would not bulge. He ran home to his wife, crying, "Get this rabbit off my back!" By this time the rabbit had turned into solid gold! The wife flipped the rabbit into the air. It hit the floor with a "Crackkk!" One of its golden legs broke off and another one magically grew in its place. Mahabodhi .....Beginning of Wisdom

Bodh Gaya  is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the  Mahabodhi Temple Complex  in  Gaya district  in the  Indian   state  of  Bihar . It is famous as it is the place where  Gautama Buddha  is said to have attained  Enlightenment  (Pali: bodhi) under what became known as the  Bodhi Tree . [2]  Since antiquity, Bodh Gaya has remained the object of pilgrimage and veneration for both Hindus and Buddhists. [3] For Buddhists, Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main four pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha, [4]  the other three being  Kushinagar ,  Lumbini , and  Sarnath . In 2002, Mahabodhi Temple, located in Bodh Gaya, became a  UNESCO   World Heritage Site .     The main attraction for pilgrims at Bodh Gaya was the Vajrasana and the other six locations where the Buddha had stayed.
