Bodh Mahotsav ,a three day annual celebration held every winter to promote religious tourism and appreciation of buddhism in the iconic Kalachara Maidan to the north west of Mahabodhi Temple ,the seat of Buddha enlightment
Celebration filled with cultural and religious activities organised jointly  by Bodhgaya Temple Management committee,Gaya Administration and Bihar Tourism Department
Bodh Mahotsav's high point is it cultural amalgamation where participants from different countries and regions participate and absorbed in the festivities
With the beginning of celebration  the whole city busk into festivity .with many international,national various regional artist too get opportunity to show their talent 
The first Bodh Mahotsav was inaugurated in 1998 by the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee 
Celebration showcase the rich social and cultural heritage of BUDDHISM and BIHAR

Bodh Gaya  is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the  Mahabodhi Temple Complex  in  Gaya district  in the  Indian   state  of  Bihar . “बुद्धं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं बुद्ध की शरण लेता हूं धम्मं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं धर्म की शरण लेता हूं संघं शरणं गच्छामि: मैं संघ की शरण लेता हूं” B uddha Purnima – “Vesak”, the Day of the Full Moon in the month of Vishaka, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. It was also on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha attained enlightenment, and it was on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha in his eightieth year passed away. Even though many Buddhists observe Buddha’s historical birth on April 30th, the exact date remains in question.
